It’s been a tolerable Michigan winter so far, and I hope it stays this way! Okay, winter doesn’t officially start until Sunday but I’ve broken out my winter boots a couple times already but I’d be totally fine tucking them away for the season… if only. So to prepare myself for the the chilly weather to come, I’ve invested in some essential cold weather items.
I purchased a Wool Felt Fedora Hat in desert sand from Express a couple months ago and became extremely attached. So when I saw this Wool Matador Hat, I thought, “I must have that!” I’ve worn a lot of hats, figuratively speaking. I actually wasn’t a big hat fan until this summer. It’s a classy look and great with some loose curls. When I pair it with some red lips, I feel very Taylor Swift. The blanket scarf is also a must! Super warm and cozy, I never want to take it off. I purchased the Plaid Blanket Scarf in berry from Express (pictured above, no longer on the site). It’s made of acrylic and literally makes you want to sleep in it.
Second, a proper Puffer Vest as well as a Long Belted Puffer Coat — both of which I purchased from J. Crew Factory. I initially purchased the puffer vest in an XS but it was still too big on me. I’m about 5’3 with a small frame. So, I had to exchange it. Let me tell you that I have a big fear of returning or exchanging ANYTHING. Luckily, the J. Crew Factory store at Great Lakes made it seemingly easy. I ordered the XXS online and got it within a few days and it fits perfectly! The long belted puffer coat fits great and hits just above my knees (I got an XS). It’s pretty warm, too. I especially love the fleece lined pockets and detachable hood.
So what did I get to keep my feet warm and dry this winter? A new pair of Sorel Tivoli II in curry! Definitely a great upgrade from the average Ugg boots… which I haven’t worn in years!
I may not like winter, ice, snow, wind or cold… but I guess I’ll admit that I do enjoy shopping for it. Oh, and just a heads up, EVERYTHING at J. Crew Factory and Express are 50% off right now! I’ve been getting bombarded with emails with sales, sales, sales. So tempting… will I be able to resist?
