Thai food — oh how I love you. Maybe it’s the rich flavor or the spice & heat… or maybe it’s just because it’s SO GOOD! Tonight I went out to dinner with my boyfriend and his grandma to Bangkok Peppers for some good ole Thai food. So, where I grew up, there were TONS of Thai food restaurants around me. Heck, I could go to probably three different Bangkok Cuisines or Little Thai Express within 15 minutes. That said, it was quite a transition to move to a city where I was afraid that not even ONE was near me. Thankfully, Bangkok Peppers came the rescue.
I’m pretty sure it’s the only Thai food restaurant in the area. Good for them, business-wise… but not good for me, customer wise. Good thing their food is fantastic, though, or else I’d be one unhappy camper. This is our go-to place for Thai food (not that we have any other options, but like I said, the food is great). Everything I’ve had has been delicious: pad thai, drunken noodle, pineapple fried rice, spring rolls, yellow curry noodles and today, green curry with tofu… extra hot, please!
My boyfriend got the pineapple fried rice with chicken (which is amazing) and his grandma got a bowl of the tom yum soup with chicken and also the apple salad with shrimp (which I will definitely have to try next time)!Bangkok Peppers just recently moved into a new location — a slightly bigger establishment with new tasteful decor and a cozy atmosphere. I should have snapped some photos, but I’ll just mention that I adore this large elephant statue, large pepper ceiling fan and hanging pendant lights.
Dinner started off with a small cup of rice soup. Warm and tasty, perfect for the cold night! I ordered the Green Curry (Gang Keow Wan) with Tofu… extra hot. It was my first time trying it and it was delicious. Not sure what that is? Here’s a quick description from the menu:
Green Curry (Gaeng Keow Wan): Bamboo Shoots, peas, carrots, eggplant, bell peppers and basil.
I love how it had eggplant in it and, of course, basil! The green curry sauce was rich and creamy — loved it over my rice. Here’s a few more shots from tonight’s dinner:
