All Good Things Are Wild

All Good Things Are Wild

We’re in full-blown summer mode right now and I’m ashamed to admit how behind I’ve been with keeping you up to date on the latest happenings in my kitchen, closet and life in general — but if you’re following me on Instagram or Snapchat, you should be keyed in.

With that said, I’m back!

My schedule has been overlapping with trying to balance my career, personal life and relationships from my family, friends, boyfriend and my little puppy child, Kira. I’ve tried (yet failed) to find time to get some blogging in, unfortunately that time took a little longer to get here. Sometimes it becomes less of a balance and more of an integration, which is how this weekend turned out. Yesterday was a friend x photography x blogging x Kira’s half birthday kind of day, quite the productive one and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

I’m also still working on learning the ropes of photography and hoping to make it a fun project this summer. If you have any tips or tricks, please feel free to share them! Because I prefer a more hands-on learning approach, it isn’t a surprise if I bypass the user’s manual (oops). I even sporadically bought a prime lens (50mm f/1.8g) for my Nikon (D3300) on Friday which is what was used during this shoot. Also a shout out to my bestie for being such an awesome photographer during our girls day!

It was a beautiful weekend for a shoot, too! This hot, hot heat and ravishing sunshine isn’t the only thing making waves this season… so are festivals! From Cochella to Electric Forest, there is so much to get immersed in. Yes, there’s the music and the vibes and the overall environment — but there’s also the style. And, who says you can’t take the woodsy-esque feels out to the streets?

When I think outdoor festivals, my mind automatically goes to cutoffs, tanks, suede (and lots of it) and some killer shoes. This look embodies the wilderness with a touch of everyday street chic.

How does that saying go? You can take the girl out of the forest but you can’t take the forest out of the girl.

Okay, let’s get to the highlights of this look and focus on four essential pieces for your summer style!

Suede:

More than just a napped finish type of leather — it’s softness, thinness and pliability makes it fall beautifully on the body and moves with your every move. This BCBG vest is lightweight and drapes effortlessly, and is totally a must-have for every woman’s year-round wardrobe.

Cutoff Denim Shorts:

It accentuates the legs and flaunts your curves in all the right ways. These rag & bone/JEAN shorts holds its shape and is carefully distressed with a frayed hem giving it a vintage off-duty look. Yet, on-trend with this season’s style.

Gladiator Sandals:

Hot trend alert! If you don’t already own a pair (or five), what are you waiting for? The knee-high silhouette makes it a standout style for warm weather. Michael Kors has this down pat with its classic leather workmanship and soft lace up details giving it a soft, feminine feel.

Screen Tanks:

Very in this season — and sometimes has the mantra to life written all over it.

You musn’t give your heart to a wild thing. The more you do, the stronger they get, until they’re strong enough to run into the woods or fly into a tree. And then to a higher tree and then to the sky. — HOLLY GOLIGHTLY, BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S

Be wild. Get strong. And fly high — but don’t forget to love, dress well and accessorize along the way.
